Dr Josephine Coleman is Senior Lecturer at Brunel University London teaching media and public relations. She previously worked as a PR executive for independent radio, volunteered at community access radio and television in the UK and USA, and was a news journalist and presenter for BBC local radio. She researches community engagement, geographies of radio broadcasting, media production and journalistic practice, promotional cultures, and content creation. Josephine is communications officer for the Media, Communication and Cultural Studies Association’s (MeCCSA) Radio Studies Network and also belongs to the same scholarly organisation’s Local and Community Media Network. She is External Examiner for Staffordshire University’s Journalism and Digital Media courses. Her publications, outputs and collaborations include several articles and chapters on research methods and community radio, a book on digital technologies in community radio and an academic podcast on creative-practice based PhDs and careers.
